Thankyou for taking the time to come visit my site.
For me the highlight of my career has been the many happy faces I have seen when they are finally free of pain. I have worked as a Massage Therapist and ITEC Lecturer for Anatomy and Physiology, Aromatherapy, Massage, Indian Head Massage and my speciality, Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
My last 10 years led me into Rehabilition and Care work which has left me with many special memories whilst sharing in others deep emotions. It also showed me the importance of living in the present moment, enjoying and doing more of what gives you pleasure, and worrying less about tomorrow.
Now that I am entering my elder years exciting new work awaits me, I am currently managing social media networks which has helped me transition from hands on to sharing knowledge.
I feel very blessed to have had such a long career in a field that I love, but my body now says no more! As a therapist self care is as important as the disciplines you practice, many I know did not last to a full term career so I hope my many students have learnt from my example with exercise, stretching and watching their posture so they too can enjoy a long healthy career.
Working in healthcare as a therapist I have cared for many people of all ages, race and class. Health problems have no discriminations, it can happen to anybody at any time, rich, poor, slim and not so slim, old or young, we all have the same human body structure, we just wear a different coloured skin and when we recover we all share the same joy.
I have been so lucky to have worked with so many people of which some have brought inspiration and awe watching their strength and courage on the journey to recovery or when full recovery hasn’t been possible they have gone on to live a full and happy life.
Slowly I am winding down with no more home visits carrying a massage couch up spiral staircases or heavy lifting involved in care work and rehabilitation.
I still do consultations with much shorter massages targeted at relief of painful areas.
The thing I am enjoying most besides my physical body having a rest is writing blogs. In the months and years to come I hope that I can impart some of my many years of experience and knowledge with the aim of helping anybody out there searching for it in Cyberland! I wish you all less time spent on the past you cannot change, less time worrying about your future and more time living in the present moment.
